Jared in HQ @ 02:02 pm

I know...I'm obsessed, but I couldn't resist posting since these pics from Male Celebs-HQ Photos so clearly show his eyes, considering my last post. I think I may have posted pics from this site before, but oh well...

Here are just a few samples.

What color are Jared's eyes? @ 01:25 pm

I know, this question is so very important. Actually, I'm trying to win for the lamest post ever ;)

Anyway, recently, I've been reading lots of J2 fics, and everyone for the most part refers to Jared's eyes as hazel, however sometimes they look so green as in this pics I found. But, there are lots of other pictures where his eyes almost look brown. I guess Jared's eyes have enough flecks of green that if the light hits in such a way, the result is green.

Also, I'm always amazed at how good so many of the fics are, ntm, the artwork. There is a lot of talent in this comm...maybe that's the problem here, artistic temperament, lol.

On generosity of SPN, J2 AND one VERY generous fan @ 03:09 pm

I hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries but I just have to say this.

This is aimed at no one in particular because I think we all are possessive of what we "create". This is in response to the negative comments about one particular fan whose birthday it is today, and whose hard work has created and maintained this community. She's far from any of the things many people say she is. She believes in J2 wholeheartedly, and she is a TRUE fan in every sense of the word. She has handled recent news with nothing but class, by sincerely wishing nothing but the best for both Jared and Jensen, whatever that may be, whether it fits into her beliefs, or not.

By reading some comments recently, I get the feeling that some of this bitterness has to do with so-called "media theft". However, think about it... is it really yours to begin with?

If it has anything to do with SPN and/or J2, it really belongs to THEM. They are being very generous in allowing fans to use their creations, their images, even their private persons, to allow others to further create, and not always in the most flattering of ways. Collaborative creation IS the WAY OF THE FUTURE, and they all seem to get it. J2, Kripke and crew do not have to be so accommodating, but they are, and I think we should share in that generous spirit, rather than accuse others of something they're not even doing.

When you post something on the web...whether it be pictures, links, videos, stories, etc. you are posting THEIR material, not yours. Please try to be as generous as J2, SPN and this one particular fan who has a huge heart and doesn't deserve any of the bashing she takes.

And as far as this generous fan I speak of, she ALWAYS goes WAY out of her way to credit anything she posts, if possible. And believe me, that's hard work. I'm so scattered I can't begin to tell you where the pics on my hard drive come from. Sometimes these pics people complain about are pictures that other people have taken from someone else, that they didn't even snap with their own camera... and they get mad that their pics have been taken. How can you accuse others of taking your stuff if you took it from someone else?

Normally, I don't like to create waves, and I truly hope it's not taken the wrong way.

Try on Jared's hair. @ 06:47 pm

Try on Jared's hair HERE, lol. But I think it cost $14.95

Jared Padalecki let his natural waves do their thing at the LA premiere of Friday the 13th. The back was tapered down to the nape and graduating layers, cut through the sides and back, enhanced the natural kinks. This hairstyle needs only a little product to re-create and it's perfect for those with longer face shapes.

Musings @ 01:34 pm

My mom sent this to me from her church newsletter. I kind of liked it even though some of them are just common sense, so I thought I would post.

Monsignorial Musings

I've Learned:

1. That either you control you attitude or it controls you.

2. That heroes are people who do what has to be done regardless of the consequences.

3. That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

4. That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

5. That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry; but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

6. That just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

7. That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

8. That no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.

9. That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are; but we are responsible for whom we become.

10. That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

Love Lessons From Sappy Movies @ 11:01 am

Love doesn’t fit a format, so relax and enjoy your own unique version.

1. Love Actually (2003)

The plot: The nine love stories here illustrate that the most powerful human emotion isn’t the same for everyone, actually. The film includes a cuckolded man (Colin Firth) who falls for his Portuguese housekeeper; a guy who is in love with his best friend’s wife (Keira Knightley); a husband (Alan Rickman) who is on the path to having an affair with his secretary; a British prime minister (Hugh Grant) who, to his dismay, finds himself attracted to one of his catering staff; and a man (Liam Neeson) whose wife has died who works through his grief through her young son’s love for a girl at school; among others.

The message: Love doesn’t fit a format, so relax and enjoy your own unique version. We sometimes expect too much of love, comparing our own feelings and behaviours to those of other couples we know. “All too often, people have an unrealistic notion of what they think being in love should be,” says Dr. Pam Spurr, a psychologist, sex expert and author of Naughty Tricks & Sexy Tips: A Couple’s Guide to Uninhibited Erotic Pleasure (Amorata Press, 2007). “People will even question their own version of love because it doesn’t fit the standard format. But there are no rules: If you don’t speak a word of the language your lover speaks, it doesn’t mean that you can’t fall in love. If you’re 47 years old, you can still get the same stomach butterflies that a 22-year-old will experience for his sweetheart. And if you find yourself wanting to be with someone you shouldn’t, it doesn’t mean that what you’re feeling isn’t genuine; it’s just not possible to act on your feelings.”

Good God Y'all @ 11:48 am

I've never been much on horror or fantasy but I love this show because Sam and Dean are so real, and the show is kind of like an onion in that the layers are there to peel, but it may be painful ;) In other words, the show gives you the option of watching it just for the adventure (face value) and eye candy or, if you so desire, you can peel back the layers revealing more depth...and if you're like me...find things that aren't even there.

Well, some of  my family members watch Supernatural, in addition to a few of my friends... but I can't talk about it with them because they look at me like I'm a freak, lol. They choose to watch it purely for entertainment, perfectly content to accept the show at face value but I can't do that. I always have to dig beneath the surface and extract "meaning", or in my case, bullshit, as people tell me ;)  And it's true, I can't even watch an episode of Gilligan's Island, without doing an existential analysis ;) The problem is I don't even know what existential means but it doesn't stop me.

Just some creepy thoughts @ 11:10 am

from [info]ckll

I came into this fandom backwards...J2 lead me to SPN after I discovered them on Youtube. I just fell in love with them...with their dynamic, etc. Maybe that's creepy in some ways because J2 are real people and their business is not my business, or anyone else's...so yeah I feel somewhat guilty for wanting to know about them. I just can't help it, or more like I don't want to help it;) NEVERTHELESS, I would never do anything to hurt either Jared or Jensen, nor anyone else cloaked as a J2 or SPN or Jared or Jensen supporter. It's hard to understand those who choose to use them as an excuse for spewing their hatred/anger, toward either Jared, Jensen, J2, or other fans.

If Jared and Jensen were competing against one another, disliked the other...sure, the Sam/Dean...Jared/Jensen divide or competition would be would be understandable, but the exact opposite is true.

I just think hating FEELS so much easier than love because hating makes a person FEEL as if they're less vulnerable, therefore less likely to be hurt, BUT the reality is, that haters get so used to hurting themselves ...hurting others...that they almost become immune to hurt...to love, therefore they conclude hating is the answer.

This hatred thing shouldn't be surprising though because it seems the more someone(s) or something comes to represent true love, the more they are used to ejaculate hatred. Prime example being Jesus. Look at all the individuals or groups who use him to symbolize their hatred. HOWEVER, there are even more people, I believe, who get it...they just don't get the press that those who don't get it, do.

But hatred is obviously a human feeling and no one is immune...believe me, I know that first hand. But we also have brains which we can use to put the hatred we sometimes feel in perspective, and to tell us when the hatred we feel is totally inappropriate. Hating on Hitler is justified. Hating on either Jared, Jensen or J2 or their fans is totally not justified and makes no sense.

See, even when they're competing they're friends:

Saint of 9/11 @ 06:46 pm

Father Mychal Judge, very possibly the very first self-identified gay Saint, was the very first official casualty of 9/11, and a hero that day, and every day, apparently, as he was a friend to the abandoned, rejected, homeless, the marginalized...

Eyewitness accounts are not so reliable @ 11:51 am

Unfortunately I don't have a lot to contribute as far I don't have access to any J2 info; lack the artistic skills to create some of the beautiful things others in this community compose; can't write fictions, etc. In other words, I'm like one of those reality TV shows I hate. Just as they want to be famous for the sake of being famous, I want to post things for the sake of posting things and I like to comment, lol. As Nietzsche once said...." if you wish to be a devotee of truth, then inquire" ... that I do. I'm nosy...that's my chief "talent"...sad, I know ;)

So anyways, I'm in the mood to post something because I'm bored. The following ONLY indirectly relates to J2 or SPN, because some of what we "know" about J2 comes from "eyewitness" accounts and as we know, they are not always that reliable.

I just finished reading :Picking Cotton: Our Memoir of Injustice and Redemption by Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Cotton. It is a true story...about the kind of friendship that most people crave, despite being born out of terrible suffering.

In 1984, Jennifer Thompson, testified that Ronald Cotton, was the man who raped her. After serving more than a decade in prison for a crime Ronald Cotton never committed, DNA evidence cleared him of the crime. Two years later, Jennifer and Ronald met face to face in a church -- and developed the most unlikely of friendships, vowing to speak out against the glaring inadequacies of the legal system and the unreliability of eyewitness accounts, especially in the hands of prosecutors with an agenda.

Jennifer Thompson, very much a victim of the justice system as well as the victim of her attacker, fully believed Ronald Cotton was the man who raped her. Overly ambitious prosecutors and law enforcement  took advantage of her vulnerability and practically brainwashed her into believing Ronald Cotton was the man who violently assaulted and raped her.

Ronald Cotton's willingness to forgive her and  the people who put him in prison for life is powerful. His resilience and grace in the face of the worst kind of  injustice is astounding.

Not to get political or anything, but being 100% Irish, the Kennedys were kind of a big deal in my family. I still feel bad about JFK Jr's death, and not just because he was hot...although he certainly was;) Ted  was not to bad himself at one time, and the only brother who made it to a decent age, unfortunately.
